Extend and improve lives
I'm a translational scientist dedicated to advancing regenerative medicine and cellular therapies with the goal of improving human health and extending healthy lifespan. My expertise spans regenerative medicine, stem cell research, biobanking, immunology, neurobiology, transplantology, molecular genetics, and microbiology. I hold an MD from Bogomolets National Medical University in Ukraine and a PhD in Immunology with subspecialty training in Cardiology. My 25+ year career includes research positions at Duke University, Harvard Medical School, UNC Chapel Hill, and the Gray Cancer Institute (now part of the University of Oxford), where I contributed to discoveries in immune regulation, cancer cell biology, ionizing radiation resistance, genetic neurodegenerative diseases, molecular genetics, and microbiology.
I'm driven by a deep belief in the body's innate capacity to heal. By harnessing the regenerative powers that evolution has already perfected within us, cutting-edge biomedical innovation guided by compassion and scientific integrity can transform how we treat age-related diseases.
Building on this research foundation, for more than five years I served as Chief Scientific Officer at cGMP stem cell bank, where I helped establish the facility and protocols for processing clinical-grade autologous MSCs and developing biologics. My expertise encompasses process development, clinical translation and regulatory compliance, with a particular focus on the safety and efficacy of cellular therapies.
I'm a translational researcher and biomedical engineer dedicated to advancing targeted, image-guided technologies that are transforming tissue and disease treatment. I currently serve as an Assistant Professor at the Sheikh Zayed Institute for Pediatric Surgical Innovation at Children's National Hospital in Washington, DC.
My work focuses on developing advanced drug delivery systems and surgical innovations, particularly magnetic resonance imaging-guided high-intensity focused ultrasound (MR-HIFU). This novel technology integrates magnetic resonance imaging with therapeutic ultrasound to provide a completely noninvasive method for precise thermal ablation of targeted tissues with real-time imaging feedback.
I'm passionate about developing noninvasive, image-guided technologies that enhance the precision and impact of regenerative and biologic therapies—bringing us closer to safe, personalized treatment solutions.
I'm a laboratory management professional with extensive experience in establishing and developing clinical laboratories and tissue banks. I currently serve as Lead Laboratory Manager and Safety & Tissue Manager at University College London, where I oversee critical operations ensuring the highest standards of safety and quality.
My expertise encompasses laboratory safety protocols, regulatory compliance, and quality assurance for human tissue used in clinical and research applications. I specialize in developing robust systems that maintain tissue integrity while meeting stringent regulatory requirements for biobanking and clinical research.
I'm passionate about creating safe, compliant laboratory environments that enable groundbreaking research while protecting both personnel and the invaluable biological samples that drive medical advancement.
